spring run-off

moab was great. we left friday afternoon with an un-napped 11 month old, (who slept for 2 1/2 of the 4 hour trip) and a very excited 9 year old. my mom and her hubby joined us down there that evening after driving over from colorado springs.
bryce ran the 1/2 marathon the next morning in under 2 hours. i thought he did fabulous despite the rising temperatures and howling wind late morning. i ran the 5 miler. it was my first "real race" since erik was born last april. it was a great run. even my sunglasses weren't sliding on my nose. my time may not have reflected how good i felt, but i was so glad to have run it.
after some pool-side resting that afternoon, we took the boys on a few hikes in arches national park. arches has such easy paths and spectacular views. christian had a blast kickin-it-around in the red sand and looking for lizards. erik loved the hiking backpack. he would make howling sounds along with the wind pushing through the sun-shade on the pack.
we started out slow and steady as we left moab late morning on sunday. christian was curious about landscape arch and "how come that arch wasn't named the delicate arch". it was a nice mellow stroll over to see what's left of this beautiful part of the park.
we did a lot in less than 3 days. it was a good reminder for b and me to get out and make more memories with the kiddos. did i mention that it was in the upper 70's? nice that it snowed today in ogden... enjoy the pictures.

Hey! Congrats on the first post-partum race. That's always a big one! I'm glad you felt good. That's what's most important. I have a friend who did the half and she said it was terrible-too hot and windy.
I'm jealous of your warm get-away.
Great picture!

Oh, I'm so jealous of those warm temps! It snowed here yesterday, too. Next week is spring break and it does NOT feel like spring! Looks like it was a fun trip!! I love arches...
